John Fahey (1939 – 2001) was a guitar virtuoso who combined American roots music (folk, dixieland, blues) on fingerpicked acoustic guitar. He had a unique approach to this music, composing and improvising like a classical composer. His recordings are quite the trip: long, beautiful, haunting, strange, calming, and spacious.
